| kleighb's Full Review: Zia Fresh Papaya Enzyme Peel |
I am a real fan of Zia Natural Skincare Fresh Papaya Enzyme Peel. It smells incredible, leaves my skin feeling really soft and conditioned, and smooth, thanks to the natural fruit enzymes this product contains.
The scent is fresh and fruity, yet smooth and nutty.... not necessarily like a Papaya... but very delicious nevertheless.
Zia Natural Skincare Fresh Papaya Enzyme Peel comes packaged in a simple white plastic jar, and the instructions and ingredients are printed on a separate leaflet. (which most of us end up throwing away, right?)
For $22, I wish that the packaging were a bit more luxurious, or at least a frosted glass jar such as other Zia skincare products come packaged in.
This product is incredibly sticky, and has a very thick, paste-like texture. It is avocado green in color, and I noticed that the color changes with age. By the time I was done with my jar, it had almost turned light tan. I contribute this to oxidation, as neither the scent nor effectiveness of the product had changed.
One thing I didn't like... you have to leave the mask on for what seems like forever! I think that 40 minutes is a really long time for a facial mask. I can't stay in the tub that long without turning into a prune, and in the tub is when I apply my facial masks. When I applied it before doing household chores, I ended up sweating away it's effectiveness (and getting it all over the place, somehow!). I used this mask approximately once a week, and found that my skin definitely improved as far as softness and texture.
I enjoyed mixing my mask with French Red Clay and ground herbs (rosebuds and lavender flowers) to get more benefit from it. I even mixed it with Japanese pearl powder once. For those of you who aren't familiar with pearl powder, Japanese women swear by it to keep their skin smooth, white and young. I thought it was a perfect partner for this mask! (you can purchase pearl powder at winghopfung.com)
I'd definitely recommend it with 5 stars, although I have read some reviews on other websites where people did not like the smell of it at all. I, for one, thought it smelled good enough to eat.
I am a fan of putting together facial masks with fruits, clays and other botanical ingredients- but it is time consuming and not all of us have those ingredients on hand all the time. This wonderful Zia mask is the next best thing to doing that. It makes me feel pampered. And that's a good feeling that we all need to feel more often.
I purchased this mask, and several other Zia products from Uncommonscents.com. I prefer to support smaller web businesses, but drugstore.com also carries Zia products.
