| laura10801's Full Review: Zia Natural Skincare Fresh Cleansing Gel |
I havent been around Epinions much lately and I wasnt very motivated to start writing reviews again until very recently. I have been inspired to write again because I want to get the word out that Zia Natural Skincare Fresh Cleansing Gel is a truly excellent product.
I was recently diagnosed with rosacea, a very common skin condition which starts out causing your face to flush in the nose, cheeks, and forehead. If the condition is allowed to progress it can cause permanent redness in the flush zone from broken capillaries, acne-like break outs (these are often described as adult acne), and eventually, a thickening of the skin, especially on the nose which can become so excessive as to disfigure you. Once you reach this stage of the condition the damage is irreversible unless you undergo plastic surgery.
As you can imagine, I was not happy to find out I have this condition. Fortunately I am in the early stage of rosacea, which means that I have no visible permanent damage and I can prevent it from progressing further. You can bet your sweet bippy Im going to do whatever I can to halt its progress! This means that I must figure out what triggers my flushing and take preventative action. You may think this sounds very easy, but it isnt. There are tons of things that can trigger rosacea outbreaks and every sufferer can be entirely different. Common triggers include consumption of dairy foods, hot or very cold beverages, caffeine (including gulp chocolate), getting too hot or too cold, stress, facial products
the list goes on and on! Phooey!
Im very lucky. I seem to have only a few triggers, including sensitivity to excessive heat, stress, and many facial products. I can usually tell that Im flushing from heat or stress just from the way my face feels. Unfortunately, I'm often unable to avoid those triggers. My sensitivity to facial products is more manageable. I used to find that all cleansers caused redness and irritation, as well as either tightness immediately after I washed my face, or greasiness a couple of hours after I washed it. I always assumed that these reactions were normal until I learned more about rosacea and sensitive skin.
My dermatologist recommended a number of facial cleansers. I tried several of them and they all caused problems. Meanwhile, I researched rosacea on the internet and discovered that many people found that the only thing they can tolerate is Zia Natural Skincare Fresh Cleansing Gel. Well, I figured I had nothing to lose so I went to my local Whole Foods store to buy it. I was a bit taken aback by the price, $4.99 for 2 ounces and $16.00 for 8 ounces, but I figured Im worth it and bought the 2 ounce size.
The directions on the bottle instruct you to Massage a small amount on to wet skin for 30 seconds to 1 minute. Rinse thoroughly with warm water. During my morning shower I squeezed what I thought was a small, but reasonable amount onto my palm and went to work. The cleanser is a deep mossy green and I dont love the smell; kind of earthy and reminiscent of vitamin pills, its not unpleasant, but not very pleasant either. I always like a foaming cleanser, but this did not foam at all, it just sat there as I massaged my face with it. I wondered if was doing anything at all. When I got out of the shower I examined the results in the mirror and got a very pleasant surprise, for the first time that I could remember my skin tone was even after washing my face! Not only that, but there was no tightness, no irritation, and my skin was not greasy hours later! After using this product for over a week now my skin looks smooth, clean, and even. Im totally sold!
I strongly recommend this product for anyone with sensitive skin and especially for rosacea sufferers. Because Im aware that people with skin sensitivities need specific information about ingredients and uses of skincare products, I have copied some information about Fresh Cleansing Gel from the Zia website at:
