jeff_wilder78's Full Review: How the Grinch Stole Christmas
Plot Details: This opinion reveals major details about the movie's plot.
It's an annual event at this time of year.
That the networks air movies to spread holiday cheer.
There's Ralphie and Frosty and Bailey (George from It's A Wonderful Life).
There's Santa and Mary and that Scrooge who's a wench.
But the famous curmudgeon who's on the tube almost daily.
Is that green monster known as the Grinch.
Now I mean the real thing not that one that was scary.
The one from that movie starring Jim Carrey.
That testament to Hollywood greed.
Was nearly as bad as an album from Creed.
No this is the original green hairy thing.
That makes everyone's heart sing.
I'm sure all of you are familiar with this tale by Dr. Seuss.
So I won't waste your time letting plot details loose.
We all know the story of why the Grinch.
Feels about Christmas like most feel about a prostate pinch.
He does not like Christmas at all.
Because his heart is just two itty-bitty sizes too small.
So he conspires and rigs up a Santa disguise.
It looks good though it still can't hide his eyes.
And he sneaks into Whoville with a big sack.
Intending to take all the Whos presents back.
However his plans to steal Christmas fizzle.
And then he gets the message of Theodore Geisel (Pronounce it like Gizzle this one time).
The animation in this classic never looks off.
Also great is the narration of Boris Karloff.
The songs from it take one to a wonderful place.
"You're A Mean One Mr. Grinch" still puts a smile on my face.
The real reason why this story never wears out its welcome.
Is that the humor and message is something thats seldom.
Seen in holiday fare these days.
Many producers are more concerned about their 401k's.
They make whack crap like Jingle All The Way.
A fun movie to watch once.
But not one that will stay.
Around through the ages like this classic does.
And appeals to all ages.
From toddlers to 30ish people with buzz (haircuts that is)
This fun little movie will never grow old.
As long as one's heart never grows cold.
(I know I slaughtered the good Dr.'s rhyme scheme. Please forgive me.)
