realslo89's Full Review: Henrik Ibsen - A Doll's House and Other Plays
To be honest and outright with you all, I was assigned to read this book by my 12th grade english teacher.
I enjoy reading quite a bit but this book didn't bring me any enjoyment. I am generally open to any type of literature but this just wasn't my cup of tea.
As far as the book itself goes, it is well written, relatively easy to read, and pretty short. It was kind of confusing in the beginning mainly because the whole plot is pretty stupid.
The whole book/play focus' on a wife's trying to pay back money she borrowed from a man to help her husband. She had to keep this secret because her husband would not have approved. So, for the vast majority of the time, Nora was just trying to hide her "lies" from her husband. Throw in a few nonconsequential character's and you have this book pretty much read.
Reading this book was a bit of a chore but I'm sure that some would like it. For all I bash it, it has it's success' being mainly the inter-relationships between characters and the intricacy of the words.
Overall, I wouldn't recommend this as good casual or fun reading.
