| sampo24's Full Review: Michael Savage - The Savage Nation: Saving America... |
And not in a good way. Ladies and Gentlemen! I now present you with The Most Hateful Book to Ever Be Written! Yes, The Savage Nation, by Michael Savage. Think I'm kidding? If only I was...
When ultraliberalism takes over the mind of a city, streets are no longer safe, people are defenseless, and wackos with weapons get free handouts. (P. 14)
Back when America was still moral and whole, our meatballs were big, soft, and tasty. Today, thanks mainly to the Demoncats, the libs, and the Commu-Nazis who rule the courts, America's meatballs are small, hard, and tasteless. In other words, we have replicated the Swedish meatball, which is what socialism brings. (P. 17)
Liberalism is unraveling the very fabric of this great nation. And the sooner you understand that liberalism is a dangerous mental disorder, the sooner you can break free from this insanity that attacks the way you live, how you conduct your business, the way you worship, the choice of SUV you drive, the food you eat, and the very freedoms you enjoy. (P. 19)
As for the clipped-haired, mean-faced Demoncats who tell me I'm hateful and intolerant because I oppose the tidal wave of Turd World immigration, I say, Go find another country. Who are you to judge me? You may think unlawful immigrants sucking the nipple of taxpayer subsidized healthcare is a good thing, but you're wrong, and I'll prove it. (P. 23)
I stare at the pages of the "Old York Times" wondering what new game the liberal terrorists, with the aid of the government-media complex, are inflicting on us. Every time I read the paper, I have to decode. I'm sickened by watching the politicians, the femi-fascists, the Commu-Nazis, and the RDDBs rip apart the land I inherited. (P. 27)
By the way, RDDBs stands for Red Diaper Doper Babies. It's one of many "savagisms" that are peppered throughout the book. You may have recognized a few others from the quotes I listed above. I listed these quotes for a very specific reason. In under 30 pages, Michael Savage manages to insult and offend the American people, who he frequently refers to as "sheeple" throughout his book. In under 30 pages, Michael Savage attacks people and brands them as "terrorists" for the simple crime of not agreeing with him. In under 30 pages, Michael Savage feels the need to lower himself by making fun of those he doesn't like and brand them with funny names without anything to back it up and name-calling is so much easier and more fun than actually having some evidence to support your convictions. In just 30 pages, Michael Savage makes it painfully clear that his only agenda is to stir up trouble and promote fear and hatred of anyone that doesn't tow his line.
I would love to say that this is simply a rousing introduction to get your blood boiling and ready for an entertaining, insightful, informative and well documented book on the problems of our country and/or how best to solve them. But, I can't, because those five quotes I gave you in the first 30 pages of the book are representative of the entire 217 page book. Savage simply shoots off angry rant after rant after rant, without a single verifiable fact to back up his words. In fact, he seems to revel in suppositions of what he believes the "evil liberals" are doing, rather than actually detailing anything that really has been done.
So, for your reading pleasure, I will take the time to give you the basic points that Michael Savage wants you to understand about him.
1.) Michael Savage hates the liberal media
Turn on MSNBC and you'll find the mind-slut with a big pair of glasses that they sent to Afghanistan. She looks like she went from porno into reporting. See, when they get over forty they go into news. (p. 48)
I find it's never a good argument to belittle your opponent by calling them a porn star in order to make your point. I could at least somewhat understand it if he at least had something else to say besides she had to be in porn, so we shouldn't listen to her, but that was the entire breadth of his argument. She looked like she used to do porn, so we shouldn't listen to her. However, he must not dislike MSNBC too much, since he did have a talk show on the network. Don't worry, though, Savage hates all the news outlets equally, such as when he renames CNN to TNN: The Taliban News Network. And The New York Times pretty much equates with the Satanic Bible for him.
2.) Michael Savage hates female politicians.
Seriously, the man has it out for them. There's the section where he compare Barbara Boxer to Joseph Mengele. (P. 114) There's the part where he belittles Senator Dianna Feinstein for wanting information on what we were doing on the War on Terrorism.
Had Mr. Bush gone along with Feinstein's request, you can be sure Barbara "Babs" Boxer would demand to be in the loop-in the interest of fairness. I guarantee it, two seconds after Babs put her hands on these national secrets, she'd be on a cell phone to someone in Brooklyn:
You know what I just heard. Let me tell you, they're going to launch in two minutes. Oh yeah, it'll be over Afghanistan... No, I don't want you to tell anybody, it's just between you and me, and by the way, I had my nails done this morning. Oh, I had them done in pink, and yeah, were launching three B3 bombers in exactly twelve minutes but I tell you the truth, the jewelry I bought on QVC, it really doesn't hold up when I go on C-SPIN, you know, it looks a little cheap... (P. 50)
I had to quote that, simply because you have to read it to believe that a person can seriously write something that horrifyingly offensive. Apparently, he's trying to make the point that those silly, gossipy women can't be trusted with national secrets to make any serious governing decisions because we're too damn stupid and busy chatting about nail polish and shopping! How enlightened.
And Hillary Clinton is of course, the devil incarnate. I still don't understand why Hillary Clinton continues to be the poster child for everything that is wrong with America. I happen to live in New York state and have yet to see her do anything offensive or underhanded since she became senator. In fact, she's been doing a good job so far, from what I've seen. However, if you listen to Michael Savage, she's the top of a heirarchy of evil women who now have complete control of our country. He calls this the "She-ocracy: The Radicals United For Ladies' Evil... Together, they have both feminized and homosexualized much of America to the point where the nation has become passive. receptive, and masochistic." (P. 37)
He also continues to promote the myth that Hillary is waiting in the wings to pounce the minute she gets the chance to hijack the next election and become the next president Clinton. This is widely discussed by many other conservatives besides Savage, despite that there is no evidence to back it up. And despite the fact that Hillary Clinton has said on more than one occasion that she is not planning on running for president. But if Savage doesn't bring up the boogeyman spectre of Clinton, it would take so much of the "fun" out of his book, and he would have to find a new person to demonize.
3.) Michael Savage hates immigrants. However he loves racial profiling.
According to Savage, we need to keep out the Koreans because they might grill dog in the back yard. (P. 128) I wish I was making this up. Basically, the majority of immigrants are classified as disease ridden, scum sucking, handout cases who come with a bad attitude and expect us to take complete care of them. Or they're here to destroy us and everything we stand for.
Also according to Savage, anyone from the Middle East is automatically a terrorist, which is why we need more racial profiling. I especially love how he continually refers to them as people in "dirty nightshirts."
4.) Of course, Michael Savage hates Democrats and Liberals.
I would pick out some quotes to support this point, but I think I've already made my case for this one for the entire review. Ok, maybe just one quote.
The Democratic Party, driven by liberalism, is an express train to tyranny. (P. 183)
5.) Michael Savage pretty much hates anyone that doesn't agree with him. And he will display his charming wit of calling you silly, disgusting names in order to get his point across.
Again, I think I've made my point pretty clearly on this one.
I honestly am stunned that this man has such a strong following, unless it's simply due to the same reason we slow down to look at a nasty car crash. His book has absolutely no factual basis that I can see, not even a single footnote. Michael Savage spends a lot more time talking about what he "thinks" people are doing, rather than what they've actually done.
And chapter after chapter frequently features bizarre rants, such as the one on the sale of babies. "They are being dissected, sometimes while still alive, and sold piece by piece. Ears for $75 a pair; arms and legs, $150; a brain for $999, tax not included... It's becoming a huge business. And some of this money is being funneled to the Democrat machine." (P. 112-113) I'm honestly not sure if this is some sort of sick joke, a really weird way to make a point and shock people, or if Savage truly believes what he's writing. The only think I'm sure of is that his shock tactics do serve to horrify me, but certainly not in the way he intended.
Smearing people for fun and passing along urban legends and baseless rants don't convince me that Savage is on the right side. If anything, his own words serve to expose him for the man that he is, a true hate mongering rabble rouser who seems to have been put on earth simply to anger and offend the majority of the country. And any good points he might have managed to bring up end up tainted by the insults and the outright viciousness of his attacks on his enemies.
So, why do I recommend you read this book? Simply because we should always take the time to read both sides of the story, whether we agree with them or not. If we're going to go up against something, we should at least take the time to listen to what they say, no matter how hateful it may be. And we can always use their own words against them to expose them for what they really are. Anyway, I've spent an extremely unenjoyable time wallowing in the world of Michael Savage and I'm going to go take a shower.
