UWSam81's Full Review: Hooray For Boobies [PA] by Bloodhound Gang
The Bloodhound Gang is, and has been for quite a while, one of the most wonderful, disgusting secrets in American music. With this album, and specifically the song "The Bad Touch", this band has finally gotten the recognition they deserve.
While I bought the Bloodhound Gang's other CD "ONE FIERCE BEER COASTER" back when the band became popular around 1997, I hesitated as whether to buy "HOORAY FOR BOOBIES". I liked "The Bad Touch" but I wasn't sure whether this CD would be as fun and smart as their previous album. However, I bought their new foray into music and was pleasantly surprised. I enjoy this album just as much as their last one. They effectively combine rants with pop cultural references which include operatic tenor Luciano Pavarotti, Vivid Video porn star Chasey Lain and video game star Pac-Man. I've repeated almost every song countless times in order to figure out all the references they make. "You Must Die", "Mope," and "The Bad Touch" are all favorites.
The only track I refuse to listen to again is Track 16 "A Lap Dance is always better when the Stripper cries." I listened to it once and I will not listen to it again. To be frank, the song disturbs me in a way reminiscent of "The Silence of the Lambs."
The album itself is much like "ONE FIERCE BEER COASTER." There are numerous pop culture references and songs with good beats. "HOORAY FOR BOOBIES" has fewer songs that go at a slower pace but is still great.
I enjoy bands that can effectively make pop culture references or can talk about everyday things. The Bloodhound Gang does this in their music. I've watched Chasey Lain in movies as well as played Pac-Man.
If you want to laugh, maybe say to yourself "What the..?", and enjoy music at the same time, get the Bloodhound Gang's "HOORAY FOR BOOBIES."
Gold and platinum honors makes this a must have album. This album contains more sun-baked slow ones than your usual Red Hot Chili Peppers disc, but th...More at Buy.com
