Cons: I suppose some people might mistake them for snotty hipsters. But those people are just mean.

a danceable feel that seemed way too joyous for the dour subject matter, but which was charming for that very reason. (I don't even know what bands to compare that too.)

That sounds like Showbread if you ask me...they used to be quite like He is Legend and are now much more mainstream...giving either of their albums a shot might be a good idea for you.
