Pros: Inexpensive, plays MP3/CD/CDR/CDRW, 50Wx4 and the disappearing face
Cons: Colors a little bright, may skip going over big pot holes
The Bottom Line: This receiver is a good value that plays all kind of music great. MP3s good for long car trips (esp 7 hr drive from San Francisco to San Diego).

| aguada99's Full Review: Aiwa CDC-MP32 Car CD Player |
I first went looking for a new receiver for my old '90 Jetta, which I would be driving to school. Aiwas had my attention because of their aux port, which most other brands did not have. I wanted a receiver that played CDs, and could play MP3s and minidiscs but one I did not have to break my piggy bank for (being a poor college student). The aux would let me connect a portable MP3 or minidisc player, maybe even a microphone to give my buddies a cheesy tour of San Diego.
I saw the Aiwa CDC-MP32 on sale and it already has built in MP3 readability, which was great (in addition to an aux port). Reading CDR and CDRW is also good because I like to burn my own mixes. Installation by Circuit City was quick, but I noticed the flipface did not flip down when I turned off my engine. This was because Volkswagen cars apparently are always powered, so you can listen without the key in the ignition. But that would totally defeat the purpose of the disappearing face. Circuit City fixed that problem with no extra charge (and so should your installer) by connecting the ground wire to one found in the defrost switch to the left of the receiver slot. Now the face flipperoo can do its thing.
I've used it for about 3 months now and no regrets. I've noticed that some of the buttons get quite hot from time to time, but I just use the steering wheel strap remote that came with it. The 24Wx4 RMS powers my infinity speakers great. The H-bass feature makes the bass really kick. As for skipping, it skips but only at severe car jolts, which does not happen often.
