Pros: Fairly small unit.
Cons: Won't play many CD's.
The Bottom Line: I find it hard to believe this isn't related to the issues in the class action suit, so I recommend avoiding Aiwa overall.

| paconley's Full Review: Aiwa NSX-AJ100 CD Shelf System |
Bought this stereo Dec. 2001 for our teenage daughter because it was the one she wanted. Right from the start, she told us it wouldn't play some CD's. We didn't follow up with her & check it out right away because we thought maybe it was just the CD's she'd burned herself that weren't working, or maybe there was some little thing she wasn't doing right.
We finally had time to look it over in the spring/summer of 2002, & confirmed it didn't work properly - MANY store-bought CD's as well as burned CD's won't play on the unit, and some of the CD's that work skip. This unit is far too big to be used primarily as a radio!
Unfortunately, due to our lack of looking into this problem, combined with the fact that I misplaced the receipt, we are just out a stereo & will have to purchase another one. (Aiwa did offer me the option of paying $94 to get it repaired, which I declined.)
Considering that Aiwa is currently settling a class-action suit regarding stereos purchased up to a year before we bought ours, it seems clear that they didn't fix the problems, so we will not be likely to buy another Aiwa stereo.
