| toiletoctopus's Full Review: Casio EV-570 2.5 in. Handheld TV |
I decided to purchase a portable television last summer, for mostly travel purposes and to use while at work.(Hopefully my boss doesn't read this) After careful research I selected the Casio EV 570, and I am very happy with this little t.v. It works very well, and has not given me any problems yet. Casio is a company with a long established reputation, and they are also known for watches, calculators, cameras, clocks, music keyboards, and projectors. Obviously they have a lot of experience across the board, and their website is www.casio.com. Their customer service line is 1-800-836-8580, and this unit comes with a 1 year parts/3 months labor warranty from them. It is also possible to buy an extended warranty from most major electronics retailers, which I did since these little t.v.'s are still a novelty of sorts.
This unit has a 2.5" anti-glare screen, with active LCD display technology. It comes included with earphones, and there is also a a/v jack on the side. A telescoping antenna is on the side, and it folds neatly when not in use. The channel tuning buttons are in the middle, and the speaker is in the bottom front partition of the unit. The images/picture quality are excellent for such a small size television, and there is no blurrying of the colors. The colors are crisp and vibrant, and the images seem to change at the perfect speed. The sound is a bit of a disappointment-you have to crank it up all of the way if there is any kind of sound nearby. However, the headphones take care of that, and the quality of sound is decent. There is no tinny sound here-its clear, it just needs to have a bit of a more powerful speaker. The antenna pulls in nearby stations without a problem.
Now here's how I got stupid one time. I had enjoyed a few "cold ones" and accidentally dropped my beloved tv on the ground. It fell with a crash, and I was relieved to see it stayed in one piece. Somehow it still works, and so I give this t.v. a lot of credit for being well built. I haven't done that again, and I am extra careful to securely hold on to it. It fits very comfortably in hand, and the unit can be powered by the included AC adaptor, or with 4 AA batteries. This is a great toy that works well, and I give it my total recommendation.
