Before buying this system I went to a few retail stores with my own CD and cassettes to test different shelf audio systems. I tested at least 25-30 systems. This one initially repelled me by it's look (I must admit it looks strange with all those yellow colors), until I finally decided to test it. To my great surprise, it's sound outperforms all other systems that I've tried.... It has great balance of low, medium and high pitch sounds, unlike most of the other systems that have one or the other, but not both. I am glad, that after long search I arrived to this one. Get this one and you will not regret. Another important thing, Philips gives 3 years of warranty for extra [money] with opportunity to get a service at local repair stores. Pros: the best sound for the money cons: ugly look, but doesn't matter--still definite FIVE STARS.
