| angelusexara's Full Review: Sony CDX-M610 Car CD Player |
The Sony CDX-M610 is a great looking and stylish stereo. The flip down display is a must have for anyone who wishes to show off their wonderful sound system. The internal Xplod amplifiers deliver a higher than normal sound quality without making the price excessively large and without having other large and expensive amplifiers elsewhere. When closed it has a pleasant display and when the car is turned off it looks as though there is no stereo at all, or at least that is its purpose.
The stereo is great for certain users, but there are a few problems that may chase away many car owners. The most annoying problem with is is the frequent skipping of the cd player, along with the loosening of internal parts. This can most likely be solved with a very nice suspension in the car, otherwise it skips at every bump. Another problem is the loading time that the cd player has for songs. Sometimes it seems as though the song will never begin because of the long waiting period that it takes to begin a song. One of the final problems with it is the clock. It is rarely on, except for if the stereo is turned off, but why would you have a stereo like this unless you want to listen to it? The clock comes on at seemingly random intervals between the times that there is a display currently on the screen. There is no clock button to make it appear when needed so often you miss the time while trying to drive, which of course is the main function of the car. It is very difficult to drive and wait for the time to display. So, if you are the kind of person who needs to get somewhere on time, this is not for you.
This stereo seems very car specific, don't put it in a vehicle that has a stiff suspension, say like a truck or most off-road vehicles, because bumps in the road are not well absorbed. Then a clock is probably required elsewhere inside the car, unless you are a person who could care less about the time.
