The Kindle Fire had excellent battery life compared to all other tablet machines that I have used. The screen has a very high resolution (quite on a par with the iPad), but is highly reflective when used in a well-lit area. The construction seems very durable, but I have not yet dropped it (thanks to the rubberized surface on the back). 

There is a headphone jack on the bottom of the tablet, and a power button, both of which seemed extremely misplaced. If you rest the device on a table, you may accidentally shut it off.

 
 The cloud storage is quite a highlight, allowing users to store 5 GB of their info online, and an additional 1 GB for $1/year.

Music downloaded from Amazon is also DRM (Digital Rights Management) free, meaning that it can be shared between ALL devices that you own. Much better than iTunes. I might even fully switch over!

Built-in apps for video streaming: Hulu, and Netflix!

The small screen makes reading magazines very hard though, mostly due to the fact that the print is extremely too small when reading a full page of text. Lots of zooming will solve the problem, but it makes things inconvenient. 

The browser is VERY fast, and compares quite nicely to other browsers I have used!

All in all, you get all the features of the iPad for $300 less!
