All i have to say is WOW. I had a ereader for sevral years, and got this for my birthday, I AM BLOWN AWAY. but The main accessories that you might want to consider are some type of protective case or sleeve and then maybe a stylus if you like to draw or play drawing games. Recommending specific cases and sleeves is tricky because everyone hos their own taste when it comes to things like that. For styluses, I still like the Adonit… but it seems that there are a lot of complaints about it. If you just plan to play drawing games, go for a ultra inexpensive one like Targus. Definitly worth the money!
- The Fire has an actual e-mail app and a fairly full featured web browser. The Keyboard has no e-mail app, and an “experimental” web browser which may or may not be capable of using the gmail web interface (I wouldn’t count on it, to be honest).
- Netflix on something like a Kindle Keyboard is, well, beyond impossible. Even if you could put the Netflix app on it, which you can’t, the display is incapable of video.
- You can highlight and annotate on both, and your highlights/annotations will sync through the Amazon cloud.
In short, if you are concerned mainly for reading, an e-ink Kindle will work great. If you want more tablet functionality like email, video, and games/apps, get the Fire.
