Cons:Fragile compartment doors. loose power/select switch. Non functional tape deck.
The Bottom Line: This product has very poor construction. I strongly suggested avoiding this one.
I just bought one of these today at my local Target store. I took it straight home, unpacked it, and plugged it in. The radio worked and I could hear the CD trying to spin when I selected CD on the power switch. I bought this mainly for the cassette tape player in it. The cassette deck did not work AT ALL...period. It did not rewind,fast-forward, or play. A long time ago when reel-to-reel and cassettes were in common use, I used to be a DJ...So it's reasonable to say that I know my way around tape players. This was no operator error. So does one bad tape deck deserve a bad review? Well, I return the boom-box to Target to exchange for another one. I went to the electronics dept. armed with a cassette tape and unpacked and plugged in all of these Jensens that they had on the shelf to test them out. NONE OF THE CASSETTE DECKS WORKED!! Out of four units available NONE of them had a functioning tape deck. I read the manual, looked for hidden switches or locks, played with the selector switch, etc...Still nothing. No way around it, these just had broken cassette decks. Since ALL of them were this way--brand new in the box--I'd say that merits a poor review.
If you are looking for a boombox with a cassette player/recorder, I strongly recommend you look elsewhere.
