Pros:Smells good, contains botanical ingredients, made hair shiny
Cons:It didn't add any volume to my hair.
The Bottom Line: Fine if you don't want volume, but that was the products claims and they fell flat.
I didn't need shampoo. I currently have a bottle of Bed Head shampoo in my shower that I love. However, I purchased a pump spray bottle of Aussie Freeze Hairspray that was defective, the product would not spray out - it just kind of trickled. The company sent me a coupon for any Aussie product. Any. No minimum dollar value listed! So I used the coupon to get a free large bottle of Aussie Aussome Volume Shampoo.
About My Hair
I have very fine, baby soft hair. It's soft and pretty, but I have always been cursed with no volume. I have to use all sorts of products to achive my hairstyle, such as mousse and hairspray and thermal active setting spray. When the right combination of products is used I can generally achive the look I want when I curl my hair with a hot iron.
Some shampoo can add volume to my hair, others are disappointing. This shampoo has its pros and cons.
About Aussie Aussome Volume Shampoo
This comes in a large purple bottle containing a generous 29.2 ounces of shampoo. There is a fat and sturdy pump built into the cap that makes dispensing easy to do when in the shower.
The front of the bottle states that it is a "new formula", that it will give you "100 uses", and that it adds "oomph to hair gone flat".
This shampoo has many of the same ingredients that I see in a lot of shampoo. It does contain sodium lauryl sulfate, an ingredient that has come under fire for years. There is also sodium laureth sulfate as well as cocamidopropyl betaine.
I was really surprised to see all natural botanical ingredients listed next. This shampoo has hedychium coronarium root extract, wild cherry bark extract, and hops extract.
One pump provides a lot of shampoo. It's thick and clear and has a fruity scent. I couldn't decide if it smelled like apples or pears or a combination of the two, but it is a pleasant fragrance that I like.
This shampoo really does lather extremely well and it only takes a few seconds to have a full head of lather. I also found that it rinsed away cleanly and easily, not leaving my hair feeling stripped - but still with a bit of that squeaky clean feeling.
The first time I used this shampoo I didn't use any other hair care products with it because I wanted to see if it could stand up to the promises on the bottle. I was sad when I realized my hair didn't have ANY MORE VOLUME than before. None.
When I used my mousse with it, I had a little more success, but when I wash my hair with this shampoo it seems to make it very soft and silky and it actually has less volume, if that makes sense. I think my hair has more volume when it is a little bit coarse in texture. This is what adding highlights does to my hair, and it really does add volume.
I like the Aussie shampoo okay. It left my hair shiny and looking nice, but I was really disappointed that it didn't live up to the claims it makes. I wouldn't purchase this particular Aussie shampoo again.
The shampoo was on sale for $5.77, so it's not an expensive shampoo.
