First just let me say that I do not own a 2000 model Scamper Tent Trailer. But since this was the only place I could find to write about this product, I chose here to do so.
We have owned for 5 years now a Scamper Pop Up Camper. This camper has brought many hours, days, weeks and months of enjoyment to my family. We live in Texas, and had always wanted to see the State. We purchased this tent camper(because I wanted an Air Conditioner), and tents don't have those.
The worse part of pop up campers is the set up and break down of them. It does take at least two if not more people to accomplish it with any quickness. Scamper does make if fairly easy, with the leveling tool, stabalizers and beds that are easy to pull out and pop into place.
Our camper opened up was 24 ft. long and quite roomy. It has a queen size bed on one end a full size bed on the other. Both of these beds were quite comfortable and had plenty of room for sleeping our family of four. The table also makes a half size bed if you need more room for other people. We have slept as many as 6 in our trailer and it wasn't nearly as crowded as we thought it would be.
Our camper also had a long sofa for extra seating inside if it happened to be raining or you just wanted to get out of the heat for a while. The cabinet space was amazing. The stove could be removed and put outside for cooking, once the stove was gone they had a cutting board the size of the stove area for you to pop into the place where the stove was. This added feature gave us more cabinet room inside. The refrigerator, although not that big, was efficient enough to keep milk, eggs and a few other items in it. The freezer could definitely make ice, not enough for my family of four each day, but enough so that at night you could enjoy a cool drink before bed. The sink was not large at all, so most dish washing was done outside in a tub.
There is plenty of room to put a 13 inch TV on the cabinet, with a clock and your toiletries. Our particular model didn't have a bathroom, but there was plenty of room for a port-a-potty for emergencies.
The air conditioner was great, you will wake up in the middle of the night freezing cold if you don't watch out. During the day it will get warm but at night you sleep very, very comfortably.
Pop Up campers are a great way to bring your family together and enjoy all the wonderful State Parks in the US that you want to see. It can be pulled by a car or truck. I drive a Taurus and it pulls it just fine, not hard to maneuver into that perfect camping spot at all.
I would not advise trying to get a family of six in this camper for a week long trip, a weekend would probably be okay though.
We have never had to have any major repair done on our Scamper, which now is almost six years old. Maintenance and upkeep charges are minimal if you do them yourself. Insurance is not that expensive either, we pay $63.00 a year.
If you are looking for a way to get back to nature, have a good time as a family and enjoy the outdoors, I would say that a Scamper Pop Up Camper is the right choice for you.
Check Them Out, I think you will be surprised!!
