These sports cars have to be the best used sports car value on the market today. Where else can you get great styling, terrific build quality, status, and last, but not least, performance for the dollar.

I have a 1984 Porsche 944 and paid $2900.00 for it in April 1999. The car is 16 years old now and it still gets looks. It also handles like it's on the proverbial rails. I've driven the C5 Corvette on a race track and this car feels just as good in the corners. Heck, the C5 copied its drivetrain with the engine in front, a torque tube, and a tranny mounted in the rear.

Build quality is top notch. Not a spec of rust because Porsche uses double galvanized steel on all of its panels. There's also nary a squeak in the car after over 154k miles and the doors close with a nice thud.

Acceleration isn't bad, but it's not up to today's standards. It'll get you to 60 in about 8.5 seconds. It keeps me happy. I just wait for the curves to strike my pray, they can't touch me there.

The only downside to owning a Porsche is the repair costs. It cost me $1200 to replace my clutch (ouch!). Brakes are $400 all the way around. You also have to replace the timing and balance shaft belts every 30k miles ($400). Considering what you pay for one and the fun and status you get from owning one, I think it's worth it.

They're also a good auto investment. They've hit bottom on resale and the only way is up. You'll get some kind of return on your investment in a 944.

Go out and find one while you still can. They're great fun and great looking cars and all your friends will say "Wow! You bought a Porsche!"
