This vehicle was bought by my husband in 2000, from a gentlemen working on base with him as a mechanic. The vehicle has been impecably maintaned, due to the previous owners knowledge of vehilces, and my husband has kept up on this maintenance due to his love of the car. The majority of Acuras sold in 1987, were the LS version, making the SE rare, and now harder to find in the year 2004. We are one of about 15 people in the state of AZ who own this vehicle and 1 of about maybe 5 that have theirs in running condition. Ours is, as I said, in perfect condition besides the back rotors. Unlike newer Acuras, the brakes are set up differently in this car and warp easily, making it very difficult to stay ontop of their maintenance. Here in AZ, driving amidst all the dust, we can probably only get about 10K miles before we have to replace them and clean the whole braking system. But, this is no trouble at all, the parts are still readilly available, depending on your budget, you can buy new or scrounge from junk yard, either way you go, this car will last forever. Our acura has 165,000 miles on it and is still running strong on original engine and manual transmission. We haven't had to replace any major component thus far, including the clutch or the A/C unit. We have other newer cars, but my husband prefers his 87 Acura to any other car and drives it to and from work everyday, which is approximately 60 miles round trip. Having the 2-door hatchback makes it difficult to fit a full-sized adult in the backseat, but when you fold the backseat down, it makes for a TON of room in the back for hauling, and believe me, this car is no lightweight. We used this vehicle to move in 2003 and it handled more than our other vehicles...not including the SUV. I can't say enough about the vehicle, we will most likely have the car for a lot of years to come. My husband has just recently decided that he would like to race the vehicle in 1/4 miles, and with the 1.6L DOHC engine, and manuverablility of the vehicle, he should be able to accomplish it in under 15 seconds.
