When my old ciera fell apart while driving one day, I was left with a tough decision. Where was I going to find a good cheap car that wasn't going to be a money pit. As an answer to prayers, there just happened to be this really nice car for sale in the parking lot of my apartments. I thought for sure the dude would want at least a grand or more for it, but to my surprise, he was only asking 500.
Well, being the cheapskate I am, I talked him down to 450 and bought the thing. It was the best deal I had gotten on a car in a long time. It needed some work because the guy who had it didnt really do much with it. After some minor repairs the car looked and ran like a new car. It still does by the way.
The car has some really high mileage. 184,000 but the car kicks some serious @ss. The car is one of the "Blue Max" editions so it's loaded with every option out there. power windows, power locks, power mirrors, power seats, am/fm cassette custom sound (but has been changed to my high powered mega ear crushing stereo with a CD player instead) cruise control, digital speedometer, and a load of other options.
The seats are incredibly comfortable. So much in fact that you could fall sleep in them.
The car although it has really high mileage and is a mere 6 cylinder it still has very good pick up and I still haven't found it's top speed. I've hit 95 but had to slow down due to traffic or speed traps. From what I can tell it's top speed should be well over 100. I'll find out soon. At high speeds the car still runs smooth. no unusual vibration or shimmying at all.
The design of the car is aerodynamic and the thing gets some really good gas mileage. Because of the type of car it is, it takes higher octane gas. Lower stuff kills some of the performance and makes it run a bit rough.
The area I'm in has a lot of hills. This car has no problem getting up these big hills. The engine doesn't seem like it's being strained to make it like other cars I've had.
The car handles all road conditions very well and is a fun car to drive. But with even the best of cars there's always a few flaws out there. This one has a few. The biggest flaw is leg room. The controls for everything is on a center console between the two front seats, and the brake and gas pedals are very close together. This is not a good car for new drivers or people with big feet. I have big feet and if I wear hiking boots, I bump the gas when putting the brake on sometimes. It's also hard to get comfortable with boots.
The other problem is the center console. If I need to reach something that falls on the passenger side, leaning over the console causes the buttons to be pressed and the seat will move or sometimes it'll actually hurt from the buttons digging into my side. Also the glove box is very small compared to other cars so you can't really stash much junk in them.
On the trunk there's a non-functional luggage rack. It's just a decoration, which I think is a total waste. I think if you have a luggage rack, it should be at least usable. Because of this rack it makes putting a bike carrier on very difficult.
Other than these few minor flaws, the car is excellent. If you should happen to find one for sale, go for it. It's a really nice car for the money.
