It may seem a bit inappropriate to have a review of such an old automobile but if you look on the road, you are likely to see more 87-91 Camrys than you are to see many new cars.
I purchased this auto for $6000 three years ago, with 60k miles. I have since put on another 60k and put in a modest $3k in maintenance. The Camry has been as reliable as any auto can be without a single breakdown. In fact, I probably could have gotten away with putting less money into the car but I like to keep it immaculate and it has run like a charm.
The gauges are easy to read, the seats comfortable, the engine has enough juice (but definitely would not be confused for fast) and the ride is smooth.
If you have a chance to pick one of these up and it appears to have been well taken care of, go for it! I am expecting another 60k miles from my ride. Also, some good telltale signs of how well the Camry has been maintained is the interior and the engine sound. I am rough on my car going to and from the beach and on long road trips and the interior has held up just fine. Additionally, with minimal regular maintenance the engine still purrs like a kitten. If the interior is thrashed and the engine knocks, Beware!
