I stole this car!!!-I purchased this awesome machine at an ebay auction for $2900, granted,the mileage is quite high(150000+miles!)but what a car! From the minute I picked it up, I knew it was a special car- so smooth(it has a v-12, 289 hp electronic fuel injected engine. Instant throttle response, almost silent(too bad, I bet this engine would sound AWESOME with free flow mufflers)neck snapping acceleration(0-60 6.2 seconds,0-100 11.4 seconds!)and an all too soon reached top speed of 145+ miles per hour!!
Then it came time to fill the tank??Wow,it holds 24 gallons
(it needs them) and uses fuel like the price of gas is still
$.35 a gallon (12 average,16-17 highway),maintenance is also a bit steep as your average corner gas stations either don't want to work on a very complicated v-12, or can't( a lot expensive,jaguar specific tools and test equipment are required). So that leaves us with A.-the dealer(80-120$per hour!) or ??(tune up cost me $700.00!But boy do I love the handling of this car(it beat lotus,ferrari,bmw,mercedes,and
audi in '81,82,83 at Le Mans!)you can get into a lot of trouble real fast if your not carefull! But the looks and questions of others, the power,handling and majestic ride make the Jaguar XJ-S a bit of a handful, radar bait car that is a true thrill to drive.
