Pros: Quick, affordable, reliable, attractive, nice aftermarket products, convertible!!!
Cons: Fading paint, expensive aftermarket products, that's about it!
Hi, this review is based on my 1990 Mazda Miata. Other's may differ.
The Miata is a beautiful, sporty car. For men, you'll probably be criticized for owning one. Most of my other male friends tell me it's a chick car. There is great aftermarket support for this car so you can change its appearance dramatically.
I bought my 90' with 104,000 miles on it. I have had very little maintenance to do on it since then. I highly recommend you take a look at the underside of early miata's. I was installing my aftermarket exhaust when I noticed a stud was broken on the rear subframe. This stud was unreplaceable and I had to buy an entire subframe, $1,100 later. Also, there is a problem with 1990-early 92' miata's. It has to do with the short nose crankshaft on the 1.6L motors. Check out a miata forum for more information on this.
History shows that people whom have boughten miata's have become miataphiles. I am one I have to admit. I have never owned a car where I have actually kissed it's interior every time I start it up. Not that I am thankful it started up, well i am but it's a kiss to show my affection for the car. The miata is so fun to drive that it is my personal belief the car was made for men and men only. Women, in my opinion, could never appreciate the cars characteristics and the inginuity put into it.
For men, test drive one and I am certain you'll find something to like about it. Take some tight corners, and make sure it's a 5 speed! Automatics are for you know who! For the ladies, yes the car is pretty and cute but you have to admit, this car is fun!
