I bought a used (1991) MB 250 Diesel a couple of years ago and it still looks great. Driving it is a real melody although it has some 230.000 km on its odometer. The driver's seat is comfortable but the back passanger feels pretty shrinked in his/her legs. It has an automatic gearbox that shifts gears very smoothly. Of course some intensive care is needed. Every 5000 km I change the oil and every month I change its air filter. Once in a while some other CHEAP elements should be reviewed in order to keep the car "as new". Surely it is a very reliable car and once you get the gears high it reaches the speed of 160km/hour still running very quitely. I had to remove the old water cooler in order to keep the temperature constant at 81 degrees. Important! This car, like all cars) needs good breathing in order to display all its greatness in driving. To be honest the 250D does not give the feeling of adventure but it is great in giving the feeling of self security and quiteness. If you take care of the valves once in a while there is no problem with neighbours during the ignition process. I have changed the tyres from 15 to 16 buying also fancy wheels. The car looks great in its exterior. An oldie with a modern touch. The 250D bears it perfectly. I hope to drive more than 500.000 km with the same motor. And the 124 chassiss id a perfect cut for bumpy roads. In driving more then 100.000 km (it had 130.000 when I bought it) with it I have spent something like $1000 in maintenance and $600 in improving its exterior. It still needs 9 liters of diesel fuel for 100 km
