I have a 1991 Ford Taurus. I liked it at first but then things started breaking down on me. My car stalls when driven too long in hot weather. It has stalled on me about 6 times last summer. The first thing that started going out was the transmission. When ever I start out from a dead stop, I have to put it in 1st then shift up to drive. I have yet to get it fixed as it will cost too much money (more than what the car is worth). Then the paint started coming off. Or so I thought it was the paint. Come to find out, it's the clear top coat that is peeling off at a rapid pace. My Ford emblem on the trunk has fallen off. The interior passenger door handle has fallen off. My dome light cover has also fallen off. My windshield wipers won't shut off in the proper position. When I shut them off, they stay in the "up" position.I can't forget to mention the "check engine" light. It comes on every time I push on the gas pedal. It goes off when I am coasting. The car also doesn't make tight turns. I have had to stop and back up several times in the middle of a turn (3 point turn). I recently got into a little accident. I was at a stop and got rear ended. No visual damage done to the car. My insurance adjustor gave me a check for $870 and told me to do the wise thing and sell the car! He said if I put the money back into the car, it would be a foolish decision. He also said Ford Tauruses from 1991 and up are known for their famous "TRANSMISSION" problems. I am trying to sell it and am asking $1000. No calls yet so I will keep dropping the price $100 every two weeks until it sells.
