Still Going Strong...

by deadeye58:      Apr 22, 2002

Product Rating: 5.0 Recommended: Yes

Pros: Strong engine, solid ride, transmission
Cons: electronics are quirky
The Bottom Line: Recommended: Solid performance and reliability, Still looks good as well.

I bought my Chevy C-1500 used in '98 with about 76k on it. The engine is a 4.3 V6, and the tranny is a 5-speed stick. Now, with 109k, the truck still looks, rides, and runs great. I have replaced the alternator twice, and some other minor parts, as well as normal oil changes and maint. The electronics have not been so solid. The stereo only works for about 10-15 minutes before turning itself off. The cruise has a mind of its own, and the wipers are completely unpredictable, except that when you need them , they are probably not going to work. I only commute a short distance so I have ignored the electronic annoyances. This truck has never let me down, and I plan to drive it for a very long time (I probably should fix the wipers, don't you think?). Overall, a great pickup truck, and another tribute to the Chevy 4.3 V6.
