Pros: Good gas mileage, nice looking, good road handling, decent horsepower for a 4-cylinder.
Cons: Questionable durability, many repairs, engine problems, electrical problems, transmission problems, etc.
I bought a 1992 Saturn SL2 in 1995. (For the record, stick with the SL2 used models over the SL & SL1 models. More horsepower and better features.) It had 104,000 kilometres when I bought it. When it got up around 120,000 kilometres, the engine went! Thank god I had purchased another warranty when I bought the car! Anyways, I got the engine work done and was back driving my Saturn. Though I was very fond of my Saturn over the years, a number of repairs changed my views about Saturn cars. I have had the car for over 8 years (240,000 clicks on it now) and am now about to trade it in for a 1998 Ford Escort ZX2. After an engine replacement (at around 220,000 clicks), 3 rad replacements, electrical problems, and a host of other problems, it's time to "bid adieu" to my old friend!
