I bought this vehicle while I was in the Navy back in 1993. Since then I have crossed the country five times, towed a variety of boats, trailers and other vehicles over 3000 miles and have over 130k miles and still going strong! I have only had one problem and that was with the cigarette lighter fuse. ( A laughable problem I know!) Yep, I had to change the cigarette lighter fuse and that was probably caused by my kids spilling juice on it. This is my second new vehicle and 9th vehicle in my lifetime but this rates as the best vehicle I have ever owned. I have owned a Ford Mustang, Mitsubishi Eclipse, Ford Ranger, chevy c-10 pickup, jeep cj7, subaru justy, Pontiac Fiero, Mazda B400 pickup and lastly the car I should have bought from the beginning, my 93 Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo.
I have the straight six cylinder version and have over 130k miles on it. I did a gas mileage rating on it and I went 420 miles on 22 gallons of gas. With your calculators, that comes out to about 19 miles to the gallon. Unheard of in a vehicle of its size and age! That tells me that the engine isn't about to give up! I have never, I mean never had to add any extra oil. My neighbor has this nice oil spot beneath his toyota with 65k miles, but my garage is nice and clean. Granted, I have done all of the tuneups myself and the oil changes, which may be the secret to my success but still I have also accomplished this with all of my other vehicles without nearly this much success. People ask me when I am going to trade and I respond, "Why would I trade my older car for something that doesn't run as good?"
