I have a 1997 Estoril Blue M3 coupe with black leather and the luxury package that has 44,000 miles on it. I have every possible option except for the rear wing spoiler which I dont like very much.
I recently purchased this car from a lady at work who used it as a weekend fun car. She had just ordered a new one and she wanted to get rid of this one. I jumped at the opportunity and forked out a mere $17,000 for this dream machine. Let me tell you, this car is worth every penny and alot more.
If you are in the market for an E36 M3 go for a 1996 or 1997. The reason I say this is because these are the only years that the luxury package was available. The $3000 luxury package includes the following additions to the M3:
Exterior:
-Revised side skirts
-Revised front air dam
Interior:
-Larger nappa leather seats with electronic adjustments
-Cruise Control
-Chrome door handles
-Extended leather on the door panels (this looks fantastic)
-Wood trim through out the cabin
-Onboard computer
This package makes the car look fantastic and helps the car retain alot of its resale value.
On to performance.... well the performance is absolutley out of this world. The first thing i noticed when firing up the engine was how smooth its growl was. I put it into first gear, stepped on the gas and voom I was gone. What you may notice the most when driving this car is the out of this world handling, you can turn corners and pass multiple lanes at 100+ mph speeds and it feels as if you are going about 60 mph, this baby really feels like its on rails.
If you are looking for a fast car that has world class handling and the ladies love dont hesitate on getting yourself a used BMW M3.
