I own a 1999 chevrolet s10 xtreme, regular cab sports side ls with 1sb package. I enjoy the powerful acceleration of the 4.3l vortec v6 180 horsepower stock motor. I also enjoy the zq8 suspension package. Rather than going around corners feeling a boat effect it grabs the road and launches through the corner, giving the driver total control. An accessory made through hypertech power programming, you can reprogram your computer to 225 horsepower rather than the stock 180 horsepower. It has harder transmission shifts, 500 more rpm's per shift, thermostat upgrade controls, and better fuel milage when driven easy. However when it is driven hard, you are no longer governed at 95 miles per hour. Now you can govern at the speed rating on your tires.
I beleieve that the eagle ga soft compound tires are great for the front of the truck. However on the back you could actually replace the rear tires three times per year. My recomendation is a harder compound tire for the rear, and keep the soft compound ga's on the front for handling. Interior comfort is very well refined. The bucket seats are the way to go, and as with the 1sb package the power windows, door locks and mirrors, and keyless remote are all standard.
The only drawbacks I have encountered are the lack of interior space with the regular cab, yet the sportside does not look good with the extended cab. One other is that leather is not offered unless you go custom, and then you don't get heated seats.
The s10 xtreme is moderate on fuel, very comfortable and with a little tweak it is very powerful. The 4.3l motor is unstoppable. With the standard abs it is uncomparable to any vehicle in its class.
