Pros: Tows good
Cons: Poor reliability
I bought this truck new and in March 2005, with only 76,300 miles (had 75,000 mile warranty), a passenger side rear spark plug on the 5.4 liter V-8 BLEW OUT. Ford said too bad about the extended warranty being expired, even though I never collected a penny on it. Dealer wanted $1,500-plus for new aluminum head. Did some research on the internet and found there may be a problem with this particular spark plug--perhaps too few threads in the head. Several reputable mechanics confirmed seeing too many problems with this plug on the Triton engine. I repaired it at a cost of $720 with a Helicoil. I've also had at least three ignition coils go out at a repair cost of about $150 each.
The truck has a solid feel and runs great, but I won't be buying any more vehicles with Triton engines.
