Pros: Good ride, good power, excellent handeling
Cons: too many failed coils, too many electrical problems,
Upholstery has worn well, dash is not cracked, door panels and seat still in good sharp ,the Ford's interior has held up much better than my wife 03 envoy with 60,000 miles. The truck now at 90,000 miles and no rattles. Not sure if paint is factory or redone. The paint is in good shape with a nice shine, but paint is cracked in several places on the roof. I would recommend the 99 Ford 250 to a friend I would also buy another Ford truck, but not a Ford car, except maybe the Mustang.
Runs good, handles well with car like ride, but not too soft. I love the way it handles corners. Adequate power for a 3/4 ton 5400lb vehicle. Vehicle purchased six years ago with 67000 miles on odometer. now 90,000 miles. Brakes and tire wear is excellent, tires getting dry rot after six years and brakes are less than half worn, almost all city driving. Gas mileage is not bad, all city driving 10-11 mpg with light foot; highway is 17-18 mpg at 70mph including mountain driving. . Engine still runs good with any oil burning. I use Mobil 1 10x30 and change it once a year with a six month filter change. I only put between 1500-3000 miles per year on the truck so I never have to add oil between changes. I have carried 3400 lbs in the bed, but had to drive slowly. A cargo load of 2000-2500lbs is comfortable.
The 99 Ford f-250 comes with too many problems to keep me completely happy. Keep in mind I have only clocked 23000 miles on the truck in six years and have had the following repairs. Three engine coils, one a/c compressor shim, one p/w motor, one p/d lock switch, both cables that attach to the back door handles have broken and also some minor transmission problems. I don't think the repair record is real bad except for the engine coils. This is something that Ford has ignored for way too many years. The other problem that gives me great concern is the fact that if I ever I have to pull the engine the cab has to be removed, definitely not one of Ford's better ideas. The truck has had a few other minor repairs but nothing that a back yard mechanic can't handle in less than an hour.
I would recommend the 99 Ford 250 to a friend I would also buy another Ford truck, but not a Ford car, except maybe the Mustang.
