We owned a 1995 Range Rover for three years and now own a 1999 Landcruiser that we have had for two years. There is no comparison. The Landcruiser is by far the best SUV that we have ever owned. And that list includes a Jeep Grand Cherokee and a Honda CRV. The Landcruiser is a smooth full-time 4x4, the bumps in the road are barely noticeable. The only downside is the mileage. We get about 13 miles on the highway and 11 miles per gallon on the city streets.

For $50,000 it is $10,000 cheaper than the Range Rover. Our Landcruiser has never been in the shop for anything other then oil changes and normal maintenance. The Range Rover had lots of nickle and dime errors. We would highly recommend a Landcruiser. If you want to spend $50,000 on an SUV this is the best one we've found. The Lexus version is basically the same truck but it is $9,000 more expensive.
