Pros: Incredibly fun to drive, looks great, feels great, peppy enough for me
Cons: Tiny side view mirrors, lousy cup holders

the only thing I would add--
If you are considering buying a New Beetle--consider the Diesel. Diesel can be found at more gas stations than you probably think.
And on a road trip, diesel is EVERYWHERE--don't forget about TRUCK STOPS.
More than once I have pulled up next to a big-rig for fuel. Sure they are buying like 100 gallons at a time, but they will still sell a little ol'bug the 10 or so gallons you need for the next 500 miles.
I usually get 50-51 on the highway and mid-forties combined city/highway.
