Pros: Smooth ride, Spacious trunk with emergency release lever, Roomy heated leather interior
Cons: No shoulder belt in rear center seat; Cruise control could be better located.
I bought a 2000 Acura 3.2 TL in May of 2007. I used 84 octane for the first 2 months and had no real problems, maybe a little rougher when shifting gears. I now use 89 octane since I get the same smooth ride and same 26 mpg as with 91 octane. I save about $2.00 per tank of gas over using the 84 octane since I can go further on a tank. I get an average of 25-26 mpg city driving. I have not driven this car on a long trip to check highway mileage. The ride is smooth, not a lot of road noise. The heated leather is nice and gets very warm quite quickly. The trunk is spacious (about 4 feet wide at its widest point and almost that deep) and has an emergency handle to open it from the inside. The trunk can also be accessed through the center of rear seat. It has auto door lock/unlock/panic/trunk open from the key fob. The center gear shift makes it feel like a sports car and can be used as a manual as well as an automatic. The v6 engine makes it get up and go in no time at all. The air conditioning blows cold and strong. The sunroof/moonroof is nice, it is tinted along with all four windows. I didn't think I would care much about the sunroof, but now, I wouldn't buy a car with out one. Bose radio comes standard, controls on the steering wheel are nice. It has child window lock. It is a nice looking car but did not come with a spoiler so I bought one from myspoiler.com and they matched the pearl green paint perfectly! Now, for the cons: The cruise control is a little annoying since you have to push the cruise control button on the dash and then on the steering wheel. There is also an outside-temperature gauge (thermometer) in the dash, though, not really noticeable, I had the car for a month before I saw it. I do wish the speed was done in digital, but, numbers are large. There is only a lap belt, no shoulder belt, in the rear middle seat. I put a child car seat there. I have read other reviews that state problems with the transmission. I have not noticed any problems so far. My plan was to drive the car when the roads were good, no snow or ice, and drive my '04 suburban in the winter. Plans change! I intend to drive this car in the winter, too! I will update about the handling on snow and ice. I love my suburban, but, boy do I love this car! I highly recommend the 2000 Acura TL!
