My Accord SE...what's so "Special" though?

Product Rating: 4.0 Recommended: Yes

Pros: Economical. Roomy. Classy look...but...
Cons: Bland styling. No bells or whistles. NO SUNROOF. Road noise.
The Bottom Line: Don't expect much more than the LX offers. If you do, get an EX instead.

I traded in my gray 1999 Odyssey EX in January 2004 (after only 4 months of ownership) for a dark green 2000 Accord SE. I took this car because I got a good deal on it, the payments are low, and it's good on gas. Its got nice trunk space for my kids' stuff and fits groceries and other things very well when necessary. The thing I felt funny about though was, I'd gotten used to my '99 Odyssey, as far as the quietness of the interior and the pick-up speed and smoothness. It felt kinda weird to be back in a 4 cylinder, and the road noise was kinda annoying at first, but it didn't take long for me to adjust. I grew to like this car alot, after about 3 days. The thing I don't like though is that this car is supposed to be a "Special Edition". WHERE is the sunroof? WHERE are the leather seats? WHY does it only have woodgrain trim on the doors and gear shift area, but not on the audio console? WHAT is so "Special" about this edition, besides the fact that it only comes in three colors (that you can also get the EX in)? And lastly, WHY doesn't this dark emerald green car have body-colored rocker panels (the molding beneath the doors that runs from wheel to wheel) like all the rest of the Accords? The rocker panels on this car are unpainted black, which is not cute to me at all. (I'm in the process of ordering body-colored ones right now) I believe that if an EX had been available in my price range at the time I purchased this car, I would have taken the EX instead. Still in all, I really do like this car, but it's a wee bit boring.
