Pros: Handling, fit & finish, balance, feel & driving experience & fuel mileage A1 !!!
Cons: 3.0 could have more HP's 1 cup holder & no traction control offered on 2000
I am a car nut, work as a program manager in automotive & have an engineering degree. I am SUPER picky when it comes to cars! I have owned & driven a ton of new vehicles so my review is based on facts.
I bought a 2000 LS V6 Manual Trans in 2004 with 64000kms on it. I had always liked them when they came out & M&T car of the year didn't hurt either.
The car is rock solid, has a perfect 50/50 weight balance, hydraulic motor mounts, aluminum suspension, phenominal quality manual trans & clutch feel. This is really a drivers car! I've driven a 2000 Beemer 328i & I didn't find anything it did better than mine. My LS felt like it had more balls & was smoother.
The steering is perfectly weighted & provides 100% feedback & inspires you to throw it into a corner harder than you would ever imagine in a car of that size. The engine is super smooth & pulls to 5500 without much fuss. I work in the automotive seating & these seats class leading, lots of bolster & but still comfortable, lumbar feels nice with plenty of travel. Heated seats roast quickly.
Few minor dislikes I have are the cockpit was not designed with much function as it only has 1 ??? cupholder & the storage space is somewhat limited, especially if you have the 6 disc changer option in the glove box. The Duratec 6 does feel smooth but because this car is so potent...sometimes you wish there were about 40 more ponies under the hood.
