Pros: Stylish, ample passenger room
Cons: Small storage, not convenient for family travel
The 2000 Nissan XTERRA is a wonderful choice for the lower end SUV. This SUV provides enough room for 4 comfortable but is not very convenient for family travel. The storage containers are small and the cup holders and inconveniently places. There is, however, good room for luggage and have fold down seats to carry larger items without the back seat passengers.
The ride is quiet but provides a very bumpy ride, especially for those in the back. Going around corners feel like you are going to topple over even at reasonable speeds. Gas mileage is the same as other SUV's in its class.
During the past two years I have had this SUV I have had the rear windshield wiper pump go out and had to be replaced. This was covered under the warranty. The battery also had to be replaced due to corrosion of their connectors. The warranty covered only 25% of the cost which I felt is ridiculous since nothing should be corroding after two years on an automobile that is used ONLY for transport.
This SUV is a good choice for those who snub the minivan but it doesn't compare to the convenience and comfort of one. For the price and those who would rather not have the minivan I feel it is a good choice.
