I rented a Ford Focus as an economic vehicle to drive in the Dallas area. The first thing I noticed when I got inside was that the petals were too close to me - my knees almost hit the steering wheel (and I'm only 5'7" with an average build). After putting the seat back for petal room, I could barely reach the stearing wheel - it appeared to be almost 2 feet away! Had I been a basketball player, I would have needed the front seats removed to have the appropriate leg room to drive. I guess the intent was to provide a safe air bag distance, but this was ridiculous!
Well, that was the start. The vehicle drove ok, but had very poor acceleration, and was not designed with the driver in mind. Nothing was easily in reach and with all of the "smart features" - like automatic headlights - I found myself irritated and wondering if all this "high-tech" equipment would continue to work.
On the up side, the car was small and made it easy to get into and out of parking spaces - despite the short turning radius. Mirror adjustments could be made from the driver side to accommodate the seat back position.
All told, I would not recommend this vehicle unless you have very short legs and very long arms.
