Pros: child friendly, rides smoothly, wireless remote and stereo, and fabulous 1.8-liter 4-cylinder engine.
Cons: Needs more space in back with 2 car seats, had a few recalls on it.
We bought the Nissan Sentra GXE brand spanking new. Years later we still think it's the best choice and I'll tell you why ...
We have yet to have any problems with this car. No breakdowns, no stalling, no nothing. Everything is still in as good condition as it was when we first bought it. It gets great mileage and with standard maintenance I don't see it having problems for years to come. The seats quite comfortable in my opinion. Came with CD player, a/c, lots of little niches to hold things, wireless remote and was child safety harness latch (for car seats) compatible. The trunk was plenty spacious for our over size travel system stroller and groceries. It's a quiet car with a smooth ride for when the kids are asleep and has an excellent stereo system for when they aren't. The wireless remote has come in handy when trying to unlock the door while holding a squirmy baby and keeping control of a toddler.
I have very few issues with the car. I don't think the interior is roomy enough. We have two small children which means two car seats. The seats fit fine but nothing else will fit in the back seat. The other issue is recalls. In the last few years we've had maybe 3 or 4 recalls on parts in the car. If buying this car used (and at this point it will be) I would definitely make sure all the recalls have been fixed and updated on the car before purchase. We never had any issue with the car seeming as though it had a problem because of the recalled part but as a safety precaution I would make sure anyway.
Bottom line is it's excellent as far as driving goes. Smooth ride and handling. It has plenty of power with it's 1.8-liter 4-cylinder engine. It's got tons of little areas for storage (including tons of cup holders), it's pretty, and it's child friendly.
