The best M3 yet!
by phoenixe46: Written: Apr 14 '02
Recommended: Yes
Pros: Outstanding engine, world-class handling, great brakes, crisp steering, comfortable interior, solid as a rock
Cons: Sport suspension can be harsh on some roads, um.........
The Bottom Line: This is as close as you can get to an actual racecar. New engine, new suspension, new transmission, new styling inside and out. What more could you ask for?

Prior to purchasing this M3, my dad had a 1998 E36 M3, which we took to area driving schools. This M3 is so much different than the previous M3. This E46 suspension is much tighter than the E36 suspension, not to say that the E36 suspension was loose, and it seems much more stable in turns. It seems like there is half the amount of body-roll as before, but enough about the suspension. This new engine is magnificent! It doesn't seem content until the rev counter exceeds 5000 rpm. The metallic symphony that emanates from the dual exhausts is spectacular! The new seats have many adjustments such as lumbar support and an air-filled bladder that can expand and contract to hug your rib-cage if needed. If you take a look at the newly-designed steering wheel, you will see that a handful of frequently-used controls have been placed there for the driver's convenience. The rear seats are noticeably more comfortable than before so now it becomes much more practical to seat all four passengers comfortably. All in all, this redesigned M3 raises the bar for sportscars across the board by offering a car that is capable of blisteringly-fast track times yet can still sit four people in comfort.
