This review talks about different aspects of the ownership experience from which most readers are used to seeing. It's great... you need to write more reviews like this.
With the use your truck gets, you could probably get away with changing your oil ever 7-10k miles, especially with synthetic. Actually, you can use synthetic for a lot longer than that, but Exxon/Mobil stopped promoting it because then no one changed their oil anymore and it was bad for business! However, do know that NYC taxis were changing their synthetic oils at ~7k miles and it was totally OK, the engines didn't suffer for it!

I was told once that synthetic oils should be used in vehicles right off the lot, and may cause engine oil leaks in vehicles with higher miles - is that a myth?
