I rented a convertible Mustang for a week in Hawaii. It was a sharp looking car, and initially, I had fun driving it. However I would not purchase one.
The leather seats were comfortable but the interior seemed cheap, and the 'Mach' stereo was average. Interior controls were not lit. For example, it was almost impossible to turn on or adjust the on-wheel cruise control because you had to turn on the interior light to see the buttons! The trunk was too small for my suitcase which made a big impact on my opinion of this car.
The ride was good. I drive a Chevy Impala LS, and the engine felt a little more powerful. Handling was superior to the Impala. The numerous hairpin curves around Hawaii were easy to navigate in the Mustang.
On sunny days we put the top down. The Mustang is a great car to just cruise around in. Based on how many of them we saw in Hawaii, that must be its forte...cruising. I wasn't really pleased with the operation of the convertible, however. The driver's side window never lined up with the rest of the roof, resulting in loud interior noise.
I wouldn't buy one, but it was OK for a week.
