It may be cleaner than an the Voyager (especially if it was burning oil), but not much. See:

I agree with you that when fuel cells come into commercial use we'll all be a lot better off. And there is no argument that a 6.0L V-8 emits a lot more than, say, a 1.8L 4-cylinder engine. On the other hand, though, with the technological improvements, I am pretty sure (I don't have the numbers in front of me) that my new truck is cleaner than my '92 3.3L V-6 Plymouth was, especially at this stage of its life. So by retiring it, my net contribution to air pollution has decreased.

I'm not saying your wrong for buying a vehicle you like. There are many different reasons someone may like what their driving.
Like SUVs, minivans are a lot better than they used to be, not quite the utility bread boxes anymore.
The major gripe on buying large SUVs is the environmental effect. I'm not an extreme environmentalist, but why drive something so inefficient if it's not necessary? I look forward to the future of SUVs as more hybrids as full cells become available (even if Japanese automakers are the first to make it available).

There is no question but that a minivan would be a much more practical and efficient vehicle for a family such as ours, who live in the 'burbs and don't go into the country. The fact is, we have owned minivans for the past 10+ years because they *are* so practical. We were tired of them, though. Tired of the boxy handling. The mediocre ride. The semi-regular replacement of C-V joints and motor mounts which seems to be a by-product of the FWD/transverse driveline layout. The body rattles and noise that they tend to pick up over time, much more than do other types of vehicles (in engineering terms, it's hard to reinforce a structure that's essentially a big square box on a chassis).
If you are suggesting that I bought the SUV for impractical reasons, I would be the first to agree with you to some extent. However, life is more than practicality, or at least mine is. I bought this vehicle because I like it and can afford it. It is truly a pleasure to drive, and adds to my quality of life. And that is basically the beginning and ending of my feelings on the matter.
Your approach to vehicle ownership seems to begin and end at pure utility. That is fine for you, and you are welcome to feel that way as far as I am concerned. But your attitude seems to be that everyone else should have the same approach you do; and it is there that I part company with you. This is, after all, a free country; and driving a vehicle that I LIKE, even if it isn't the most practical, is part of my "pursuit of happiness."

However, you make no real claims as to why the Yukon is better than your old minivan, except that maybe it's newer and is more reliable. In my recent research, I found that many new minivans are better than large SUVs in terms of price, safety ratings, gas mileage and versatile space. Especially if you do not need the large towing capacity and off-road capabilities. I have outlined this information in my SUV buying epinion. You talk about the towing capacity, but not what your using it for and why a minivan wouldn't work.
Ah yes, another SUV that will not be used for what it was intended for, off-roading.
Oh, and it would be nice to have the gas mileage, horse power, cargo space, etc.
