I purchased the 4 Cyl base model in Aug. 2002. My troubles
with Hyundai started within the next month of ownership.
Here is what I have experienced since the purchase:
1) Noticed a wheel alignment problem within 1st week of
ownership - didn't worry about it until first oil change
to have it looked at. Dealership indicated that there was
a problem and charged me for the fix since it wasn't covered. Months later since the adjustment the car seems
out the other direction slightly.
2) Received a notice from Hyundai indicating that the
horsepower that they quoted was not correct (Sept. 02).
It was quoted at 149 Hp and now it was 138 Hp - I was very
disappointed to this date with my car. Hyundai's offer to
me was to give an extended warranty. This still didn't seem
right since the information influenced my purchasing decision.
3) In fall 2002 started to notice that when it rained there
were circles that appeared on the rear side glass (looked
like suction cup marks from installation)
4) In fall 02 also noticed that the side window glass for
the passengers was distorted somewhat (wavy).
5) In fall 02 noticed a couple of paint colors (drops)
that were not my color on the car
6) In Jan. 2003 my car exhaust system froze up twice in
one week. Good thing for the roadside assistance. Hyundai
did replace my exhaust but left me with a drilled hole in
my resonator that they fixed with a screw!
