I recently conducted a test drive of the 2002 Lincoln Navigator. I'm shopping to replace my 1997 Ford Explorer Sport. I would prefer a Ford corporate made SUV, but I'm also looking at other brands.
I like the Navigator: it has plenty of creature comforts, especially when compared with the Ford Explorer (it is the same chassis). It rides more smoothly than my 97 Explorer, and overall rides nicely. I wish it had a couple of additions: stereo buttons on the steering wheel, heated seats (I'm not sure if they are available, but the model I drove didn't have them). It feels pretty roomy, and feels like it rides higher than my Explorer.
The problem is that the Navigator costs roughly $35k. For this price, I could get a loaded Grand Cherokee Limited, and have some features the Lincoln doesn't have...additionally, I could look at some imports and get more for a similar price.
All in all, it is a nice looking vehicle, but I would advise most people to look around...there are alot of models out there right now to compare. I think you can get more for the money than the Lincoln Navigator has to offer.
