2003 Oldsmobile Alero GLS Coupe

by cadet: Written: Jun 27 '04

Product Rating: 5.0 Recommended: Yes

Pros: Fun to drive handling, passing power, luxurious interior, lots of extras, gas mileage, instant classic
Cons: absolutely none
The Bottom Line: 100% recommended, straight up fun to drive, great gas mileage, every option available on GLS, Leather comfort, plenty of passing power, sunroof and premium sound, who could ask for more?

We purchased our 2003 Oldsmobile Alero Coupe in May of 2003 brand new. I have had absolutely no problems with it since. The sticker price in ours was $24,190. We got a 5year/75,000 mile warranty. It came with basically every option available except for OnStar and XM. The Sun and Sound package is really great fun in Charleston, SC. The car has maintained an immaculate appearance. It gets good gas mileage, about 20city, and 25-30 highway. It handles just about as well as a Vette, and the pick-up leaves no room to complain. The GLS package dramatically improves handling from the more basic models. If you don't own a GLS Alero, you don't have a car built to its potential. Oldsmobile did a fantastic job designing this road hugging coupe. The current Kelly B.B. on ours is $16,105 with around 24K miles. Its is silver with gray leather interior. The sunroof is a blast to drop back with the windows down. The little things like Speed Controlled Volume on the stereo make a difference in the quality that Oldsmobile offers. You really get a lot more for your money in Olds. Its just a shame that they don't make them anymore. The performance, class and quality of the GLS make this car an instant classic. I'm proud to own the last car Olds made. My only complaint is that this is a pure-bread road trip car that works well as a daily driver. Unfortunately it can't haul a 3,900lb boat. I am forced to sell the Alero to buy a truck. The excellent re-sale value from the healthy list of options allows me to ask a modest $15,750 or best offer. This is a testament to the quality of this car. Feel free to email me at hallp1@citadel.edu or call #843-971-0288 if you have any questions about the Alero, once you have a passion for these vehicles you are willing to go the extra mile to make sure it gets a good home. I would definitely recommend this one of a kind instant collectible to anyone looking for a quick daily driver or superb ride quality, making a road trip actually comfortable.
