7/1/2006 - I just bought my first SAAB (Reply to this comment)

I am a long time Volvo owner (I have 2). My fiance has an X5 BMW. Our town has a ratio of BMWs to other cars of about 20 to 1. When the time came for me to get a new car...the only car that sparked my attention was the SAAB. I wanted European luxury, but didn't want to have to search the mall parking lot to figure out which Beamer was mine!! Everytime I saw a SAAB pass us on the road, my heart did a little flip flop. I was in love. I had it bad. I researched SAABs for months before I decided to get the most 9-3 that my money could buy (well $20k of my money that is). I called our local SAAB dealer and told him what I wanted and then waited. He called me with my perfect car. When I pulled in and saw her across the lot, I knew it was the one I had been waiting for. When I test drove her, I was even more wild about this car. We decided to offer $20k for the car, the dealer one upped us and offered it to us at $18.9k. Almost in unison we said...SOLD! I'm on day 4 of owning this great car, and it just gets better. It's so smooth, so people friendly, so sexy, so pretty.
I got the 2003 9-3 Arc in that glorious deep dark blue with grey leather interior. It is a lease return from SoCal and looks so great that people always assume it's new.
The reason for my response to this review is to chime in my two cents and wholeheartedly agree with this review.
Drive one - you WILL buy one. Stand out from the pack. Be your own person! And when you are out there passing those 330 BMWs on the highway...give em a little wave and a smile as they eat your fumes! ;o)

"Guide to Self-Discovering your Personal Saabness" (Reply to this comment)

Very interesting review, more of "Guide to Check if *You* are a Potential SAAB Driver" than a straight-forward review, and I like it like that.

Incidentally, it is interesting to see that Saab driver and BMW motorcycles correlate quite a bit statistically. Put me down as another one. :-)

You say a lot about this car but don't give as much of your opinion about it as I usually like to see. I came close to giving you a "Helpful" rating and understand why others may do just that.

Generally, I look for the reviewer's opinion about the engine, transmission, controls, ergonomics, brakes, handling, comfort, capacity and gas mileage of a car. You did a couple of these very well but had little or nothing about the others. If you really want to nail this review, I suggest that you add your opinions about the brakes, handling, controls, ergonomics, comfort, capacity and gas mileage of the 9-3.

This is very well written and interesting, however, which went a long way toward my "Very Helpful" rating.
