Pros: Safety, Value, Reliability, Attitude, Individuality, Easy-to-get to engine and parts
Cons: Annoying blinker noise, quirky cup holders, cheap looking gear box, expensive to repair.
The Bottom Line: Best all around value anywhere. Period.

First off, this is a car that has all the bells and whistles anyone could ever want at a price giving the best value in town. Especially used. I would never buy a new vehicle of any kind, so I went to the car lot after my husband's pickup truck was totaled by a delivery truck and my eyes caught a 2003 ARC... This is the year Saab still used the V-6 for its ARC model and it felt more responsive and seemed to have more gut than the newer ARC with the 4-cylinder turbo to drive (supposedly all data tells the opposite story). Still, I thought it felt great to handle, it was powerful enough for me, quite responsive, and it had all the bells and whistles such as heated/cooled seats (thought the latter sounded silly until I drove it my first day on a hot July afternoon), and a very good sound system, an extended warranty, which all are features I appreciate. All the other souped up stuff is great too, but I am not going to bother listing them all here. Let's just say I have all imaginable options on my ride.
This car handles exceptionally well and although I would have loved the Aero with its 250HP (I have driven it and it's a dream), I was practical and went the 200 (now 220)HP Arc; a bit easier on the wallet. Let's just say I am not disappointed. The car is so quiet that it's very difficult not to propel yourself to dangerously high speeds and not even notice...(so I am using the high speed alarm feature). Anyway, for the curious I also considered a Lexus, Volvo, BMW, Mercedes, Audi of similar statue, but Saab had it all and again, at the very best value. Audi's safety rating is not great, the Volvo reliability (for the S-80) is spotty, Lexus is too old school and much more expensive, BMW and Mercedes also provided less horsepower, less safety, less legroom etc for the price. Not worth it in my mind. Anyone considering a Saab - if you buy it you will not regret it. However, give yourself the extra horsepower under the hood and get an ARC! (or Aero, even better) I love mine! For the record, I got a certified pre-owned 2003 ARC, with ALL options, 40K miles for 19K. The dealership was so professional and courteous, my best car buying experience ever. Happy Saab driving, everyone!
