Re: Premium? (Reply to this comment)

My source on this was Consumer Guide. But this might be an error. I find no other site stating that premium is required in the 2003 SE.

Premium? (Reply to this comment)
by jedwardtaylor
I am the proud owner of a 2003 Camry SE V6 and have never been told or found any supporting documentation from Toyota requiring Premium Unleaded Fuel. Please check and advise! Thank you...

Requires premium gas? (Reply to this comment)
by kmitch55
I have a 2003 Toyota Camry, and according to the owner's manual, it requires regular unleaded gas. I have the 4 cylinder, automatic, LE. It stated to use 87 octane gasoline. Maybe the SE requires the premium, but just wanted to make sure it was clear that the LE does not.

....your personal, non-factual opinion is worth. My personal, non-factual opinion is that the Camry looks like only granmama should be caught dead driving one.

Re: The refinement of the 2003 Camry V6 (Reply to this comment)

The 2003 Camry SE sedan V6 produces 192 horsepower, not 210. The Honda produces 240, the Nissan 245. Both are much quicker than the Camry.
The 2004 SE V6 will have the 225-horsepower 3.3-liter, though. Other Camry V6s will have the Avaolon's 210-horsepower 3.0-liter engine for 2004. So you got that one right. All also get a five-speed automatic in place of the previous four-speed. I'll have to take a look.

The refinement of the 2003 Camry V6 (Reply to this comment)
by toycmry
The 2003 Camry V6 model is actually powerful that uses Avalon's 210 horspower VVT-i engine torque at 220 lb-ft. This is more than the accord and just slightly less than the Altima. The V6 Camry also come with a five-speed automatic transmission.
Both the Accord and the Camry offer quiet and comfortable rides, but the Camry is a little more roomier and feels much more refined in my opinion. I really don't like the look of the Accord, although it does feel sportier from the inside. The Altima V6 with manual transmission flies from 0-60mph in 6.3 seconds. I drove it and like the power aside from the understeer and interior design.
Check out the 2004 Camry SE V6 with the 3.3 Liter 225 horspower and 240 Torque under the hood!

Why only V6 review? (Reply to this comment)
by binfeld
While I cannot comment on the '03 Camry I am in my 8th year with a 4-cyl. purchased Nov.'94 and have never had such a fine vehicle. Although I drive mostly alone (or only 1 passenger, my wife) I have taken trips of hundreds of miles and found the (regular gas) motor an exceptionally appropriate performer with excellent transmission response.I can only highly recommend the Toyota, not only for driving satisfaction, but also for the complete absence of any (yes, none)troubles with anything on this car all these years! Even with 4 occupants it handles well and remains quite
economical while effortlessly cruising at 75 MPH.

2003 Camry review: Shoot 2003 Accord instead! (Reply to this comment)
by zava35
I wouldn't recommend the 2003 Accord because it's appallingly ugly, but that's just personal opinion.
Also about that lack of availability for a manual transmission, think about this, IT'S A FAMILY CAR. BTW, the V6 Accord is auto only too, unless you go for the even-uglier coupe, which has a 6-speed manual optional.
Besides, the V6 is only going to be a fraction of overall Camry sales. The 4-cylinder (which does come with a stickshift standard and requires only regular 87 octane gas) model will be the car most Camry buyers will buy. The automatic will account for the bulk of Camry sales, too.
Sorry to go off on a tangent, but that's just my personal opinion.
